Both Kohli and Dhoni shared an incredible moment in between the RCB batting with the former putting his hands on the latter's shoulder and the duo had a short chat as well, keeping the rivalry between their teams aside.

Kohli and Dhoni, who were once teammates in the Indian team, are believed to share a great bond on and off the field.

Multiple videos of the famous Kohli-Dhoni moments have gone viral on social media.

Notably, Dhoni had stepped onto the field as a player under Ruturaj Gaikwad's captaincy, having stepped down from the role a day before the match.

Kohli, on the other hand, had a disappointing outing with the bat, as he contributed with just 21 runs in his side's total of 173/6 after 20 overs.

CSK chased down the target with ease at the end in the 18.4 overs on the back of notable contributions from Rachin Ravindra (35 off 15) and Shivam Dube (34* off 28).

Kohli, who remains the top run-getter in IPL history with 7263 runs in 237 matches, had expressed his excitement about catching up with MS Dhoni ahead of the tournament opener.

"Playing against Chennai is obviously always a special occasion, a big game. You know, the Southern Derby as they call it. Yeah, it's nice to play in front of very passionate Chennai fans and yeah good to catch up with MS Dhoni, it's been a while," Kohli had said.

Dhoni didn't get to bat but had a promising outing with the gloves behind the stumps as he made some brilliant efforts to stop boundaries and thrilled fans with a remarkable run out to get the better of Anuj Rawat.

CSK will face Gujarat Titans on March 26 in their next fixture whereas RCB will be up against Punjab Kings at the Chinnaswamy stadium on March 25.
