Sameer Rizvi, the young batter, smashed the winning shot off Marcus Stoinis as the ball went a long way in the standings to give DC a memorable victory in the thrilling contest. DC chased down the 207-run target in 19.3 overs. Rizvi was the top run-getter for DC, having played an unbeaten knock of 58 runs in just 25 balls on the back of three fours and five sixes.

Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs (18*) stitched a match-winning partnership of 53 runs for the fifth wicket. This was DC's seventh win of the season, and they finished their campaign in fifth position in the points table with 15 points under their belt. Earlier, Punjab posted a mammoth total of 206/8 in their 20 overs after being put into bat first on the back of Shreyas Iyer's 53-run knock in just 34 balls. He smashed five fours and two sixes. Marcus Stoinis played a fiery cameo of unbeaten 44 runs in just 16 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes.

"It feels really good. The hard work I put in the last 2-3 months has paid off. I did not have the confidence before that I could play like this at this level, but after one innings, that came and now I feel I can do it. When I went in, more than 100 was needed. I looked at my first three-four balls and then played my shots," Sameer said after being adjudged as the Player of the Match.

Talking about Punjab, the Shreyas Iyer-led side faced a setback in their chances for a top-two finish. They will need to win their last match against the Mumbai Indians on Monday in order to remain in contention to play Qualifier 1.
