Punjab Kings pulled off one of the most remarkable chases in IPL history, hunting down a massive 265 against Delhi Capitals in a game that had everything: big hits, dramatic turns, and standout individual performances on batting-friendly Kotla pitch.

Delhi Capitals, opting to bat, put up a staggering 264 for 2, thanks largely to a breathtaking knock from KL Rahul. He was in complete control from the start, mixing elegant strokeplay with raw power on his way to 152 off 67 balls. It turned out to be one of the finest innings in IPL history and the highest ever by an Indian in the tournament.

Rahul found strong support in Nitish Rana, who played with confidence and freedom at his home ground. Rana’s 91 off 44 balls ensured there was no let-up in pressure, as the duo stitched together a massive 220-run partnership for the second wicket. Boundaries kept flowing from both ends, and Punjab’s bowlers had no answers. By the end of 20 overs, Delhi had piled up the highest total of the season, hitting boundaries almost at will.

Chasing such a daunting target, Punjab Kings needed a perfect start—and they got exactly that. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh came out with clear intent and took the attack straight to the bowlers. In just 6.5 overs, they added 126 runs, completely shifting the momentum early in the chase.

Arya was the first to go after a quickfire 43 off 17 balls, dismissed by Axar Patel just when Delhi were desperate for a breakthrough. But Prabhsimran continued the assault, racing to 76 off just 26 deliveries before Kuldeep Yadav brought some hope back for Delhi by trapping him lbw in the eighth over.

Kuldeep struck again soon after, removing Cooper Connolly in the 10th over to keep the game alive. At that point, the chase could have gone either way.

Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer then stepped up when it mattered most. Calm under pressure but aggressive in approach, he took control of the innings. Nehal Wadhera played a useful cameo of 25 off 15 balls before falling in the 15th over, but by then the required rate was under control.

From there, Iyer made sure there were no further hiccups. He paced his innings beautifully and finished unbeaten on 71, guiding Punjab Kings to a famous win. Shashank Singh provided steady support at the other end as Punjab completed the highest successful run chase in IPL history.
