IPL 2025: In a concerning turn of events, DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) received a threatening email on Friday. The threat was a warning of an explosion at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This development came around after the confirmation of IPL 2025 getting suspended amid rising military tensions between India and Pakistan.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed promising action in the multiple matches that took place at the iconic venue during the IPL 2025. The venue was all set to host the fixture between the home side, Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans on May 11. However, due to ongoing India-Pakistan issues, the tournament has now been suspended for a week, the BCCI announced on Friday.
The development of the threatening mail was shared with the Delhi Police immediately. "Yes, we received a threatening email this morning and have already forwarded it to the Delhi Police. They already swung into action and did an inspection of the venue some time back," a top DDCA official was quoted by the Times of India as saying.
A few days back, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad emerged as a potential target in any kind of attack whereas the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur also received a threat of a blast. Notably, the threat mail received by DDCA also added that they have Pakistan faithful sleeper cells across India, and they would be activated for Operation Sindoor.
DC were scheduled to play a total of five home games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, but only four were made possible, out of which they managed to win just one game.
It is to be noted that DC's match against Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was called off midway as a precautionary measure on Thursday due to Pakistan Army's continuous drone attacks on India's military bases at multiple venues.
