Delhi Capitals have brought in Rehan Ahmed as a replacement for fellow England player Ben Duckett for the rest of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, the league confirmed on Thursday.

Duckett has decided to pull out of the tournament to focus on his commitments with England and to manage his workload, both physically and mentally.

In an official statement, the IPL said that Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Rehan Ahmed for the remainder of the season. The young spin all-rounder has already played international cricket for England across all formats.

So far, Rehan has featured in 5 Tests, 9 ODIs, and 13 T20Is, taking a total of 49 wickets for his country. He will join the Delhi Capitals for a price of β‚Ή75 lakh.

Rehan also made headlines earlier in his career when he became the youngest player to represent England in Test cricket. He made his debut at just 18 years and 126 days old during a match in Karachi in December 2022.

Mitchell Starc to Join DC

Australia speedster Mitchell Starc who missed the initial stage of the IPL 2026, has been cleared by Australia to feature in competitive cricket.

The left-arm fast bowler had been out of action due to elbow and shoulder injuries he picked up during the Australian summer. Once he reaches India, he is expected to ease back into the game and slowly increase his workload.

Starc will likely to play his first match of the season against the Rajasthan Royals on May 1, which will be the 43rd match of IPL 2026. He had missed the early part of the tournament because of his injury.

DC's performance in IPL 2026

DC are currently fifth in the points table with three wins in six outings of the tournament. The Axar Patel-led side will now face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their upcoming clash, which will take place on April 25 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
