Yash Dhull, who captained India to 2022 U-19 World Cup glory, has successfully returned to cricket after undergoing minor heart surgery.
Dhull's journey in the ongoing Delhi Premier League has been a tumultuous one, marked by a change in captaincy, experimentation with his batting position, and even a brief break from the team.
Dhull, the 21-year-old former captain of India's U-19 World Cup-winning team, has faced a tough journey after being advised by the NCA's medical team to undergo heart surgery a few months ago. The issue was detected during a camp in Bengaluru, but Dhull remains optimistic and is eager to make a strong comeback, giving his all on the field.

"Certain things have happened in the past, and I have returned after a recovery. It's taking time but I am positive and will give 100% for my game," Dhull told News18.
Dhull, who initially led the Central Delhi Kings as captain, relinquished the role and subsequently played as an Impact Player, experimenting with a new batting position. He then took a break in the fifth match of the T20 league. Despite his efforts, Dhull's performance has been modest, scoring only 93 runs in five games with an average of less than 20 and a strike rate of 113.41.
His childhood coach, Pradeep Kochar, revealed that the player underwent surgery and has made a successful return in DPL 2024, adding that Dhull is now fully recovered for the upcoming domestic season.
"During the NCA check-up, the team, after consulting with the set of doctors, advised him to undergo surgery for the hole in his heart. He was attending a camp with the rest of the emerging players a couple of months back in Bengaluru," Kochar said as quoted by India Today.
"The NCA has given him the certificate of fitness, so there shouldn't be an issue in any of the formats going forward. During the DPL, he took a rest from one of the games because the humidity was very high. Even going forward, there shouldn't be any problem for him to play the Ranji Trophy and the longer formats," Kochar added.
