In an unfortunate turn of events, Dilip Doshi, the former India left-arm spinner, passed away on Monday at the age of 77 due to heart issues in London, where he was living for several decades.
Having represented India in both ODI and Test cricket, Doshi had made a name for himself while playing county cricket even before getting a chance to play for the national team.
Doshi, who bowled with a classical left-armer's action, took 114 Test wickets in 33 appearances, including six five-wicket hauls. He also took 22 wickets in 15 ODIs at an economy of 3.96. He also played first-class cricket for Saurashtra, Bengal, Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.
"The BCCI mourns the sad demise of former India spinner, Dilip Doshi, who has unfortunately passed away in London. May his soul rest in peace," the board posted on X.

Doshi is one of only nine Indian men who have a five-for on their debut Test.
Doshi was known for his ability to master the flight and his control over the ball. Doshi probably would have had a longer international career, but with Bishan Singh Bedi, a world-class left-arm spinner already in the team, he had to wait for his turn.
Doshi, who used to bowl sporting spectacles, played the famous Test in Melbourne in 1981 with a broken toe. As treatment, at the end of the day, he would apply an electrode every evening to keep the swelling down.
