DPL 2024: In a brilliant batting prowess, South Delhi Superstarz broke lots of T20 records in the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2024 on Saturday on the back of brilliant performances by Priyansh Aarya and Ayush Badoni. In their match against North Delhi Strikers, both of them stitched a mammoth partnership of 286 runs and also registered the best-ever partnership in the history of the shortest format.

Both of them were in sublime form on Saturday as they had smashed 26 sixes. South Delhi had hit 31 sixes in total, which was the most by any team in one innings of the shortest format. Badoni had himself smashed 19 sixes and thus broke Chris Gayle's record.

Aarya scored a brilliant knock of 120 runs off 50 balls in which he smashed 10 sixes and in the process also achieved a brilliant milestone of smashing six sixes in one over. Badoni's equally brilliant innings of 165 runs off 65 balls, in which he had smashed 19 sixes, helped the team post a mammoth target of 308/5, which was the second-highest total in the history of this format.

Badoni, who is known for his performances in the IPL, while playing for LSG, showed his prowess ahead of the mega-auctions. He has played in 42 matches in IPL and has scored 634 runs at a strike rate of 134. On Saturday he was at his absolute best as he batted at the strike rate of 300.

Here are the records set by the South Delhi Superstarz

1. Highest partnership for any wicket in T20s

The duo of Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Aarya stitched a partnership of 286 runs, which was the most by any batting pair in the history of the shortest format.

2. Most sixes in a single T20 innings

Ayush Badoni broke Chris Gayle's record as he smashed 19 sixes in the innings. Gayle had hit 18 sixes in his knock of 146* runs in the 2017 BPL match.

3. Most sixes in an over

Priyansh Aarya had entered an elite list of batters like Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, and Nicholas Pooran to have smashed six sixes in an over.

4. Most sixes in a single T20 match

About 31 sixes were smashed by the team thus breaking Nepal's record of 26 sixes.

5. Second highest total in T20s

South Delhi Superstars posted the mammoth target of 308/5 while batting first and this was the second-highest total in the shortest format and is behind Nepal's 314/3 against Mongolia in the 2023 Asian Games.
