After facing significant backlash for excluding Imran Khan from a promotional video celebrating Pakistan's cricket achievements, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released a revised version that includes the 1992 World Cup-winning captain. The PCB stated that the previous video omitted certain clips due to its duration.

Initially released on August 14 under the hashtag #BeyondJustOneDay, the video spotlighted notable players and key moments in Pakistan's cricket history since their first international game in 1952.

"The PCB has launched a promotional campaign leading up to the Cricket World Cup 2023. One of the videos was uploaded on 14th August 2023. Due to its length, the video was abridged and some important clips were missing. This has been rectified in the complete version of the video," PCB wrote on its social media platform with the new video.

However, the absence of Imran Khan, a revered figure in Pakistan's cricket legacy and a former Prime Minister of the country (from August 2018 to April 2022), sparked significant criticism. Former players, including Imran's teammate Wasim Akram, criticized the video for omitting the mention of their only ODI World Cup-winning captain.

Wasim Akram, a member of the 1992 World Cup-winning squad, expressed shock over the video's omission of Imran Khan and called for its removal, along with an apology from the PCB.

"After long flights and hours of transit before reaching Sri Lanka, I got the shock of my life when I watched PCB's short clip on the history of Pakistan cricket minus the great Imran Khan's political differences apart but Imran Khan is an icon of world cricket and developed Pakistan into a strong unit in his time and gave us a pathway, PCB should delete the video and apologise," Akram said in a tweet.

Imran Khan is widely acknowledged as one of Pakistan's greatest cricketers and a legendary all-rounder. He led Pakistan to their first global title, the 1992 World Cup, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

In 2018, Imran transitioned into politics and was elected as Pakistan's Prime Minister after a lengthy political career. However, he was removed from office through a vote of no-confidence by the parliament in the following year.
