Duleep Trophy 2024: Anshul Kamboj rattled India B's batting lineup on the fourth day of their Duleep Trophy 2024 clash and brought up his best bowling figures in first-class cricket. Kamboj's 8/69 helped India C skittle India B out for 332 runs during the first innings and helped his team take a huge lead of 196 runs.
During the second innings, India C extended their lead by 321 runs after they were 128/4 and that's when both the skippers shook hands as the match ended in a tie on the fourth day in Anantapur.
India B started their day with their overnight score of 309/7 on the back of Abhimanyu Easwaran's brilliant knock (143*) and Rahul Chahar's unbeaten gritty knock of 18 runs. Chahar couldn't take a single to his overnight score and was dismissed by Kamboj for 18 runs. He then took the wicket of Navdeep Saini for a duck.
The Haryana-born fast bowler then got Mukesh Kumar out for 4 runs and thus India B were skittled out for 332 runs. On the third day, he dismissed star batters like Narayan Jagadeesan (70), Musheer Khan (1), Sarfaraz Khan (16), Rinku Singh (6), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (2) and took his maiden five-for in this format. Abhimanyu Easwaran scored a gritty knock of 157 runs for India B.
India C takes the top spot.
During the second innings, India C suffered a blow after Sai Sudharsan fell cheaply as Mukesh Kumar was dismissed. Ruturaj Gaikwad (62) and Rajat Patidar (42) helped the team bounce back by stitching a stable partnership of 96 runs and helped the team post a target of more than 100 runs.
India B's Rahul Chahar and Musheer Khan broke this partnership. Chahar dismissed Ishan Kishan for just 1 run. After the team suffered a batting collapse, Baba Indrajith (5*) and Abhishek Porel (4*) played for three overs and helped the team take a lead of 321 runs.
As there was no time left, skippers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhimanyu Easwaran shook hands as the match ended in a tie. After this match, India C is currently the table toppers of the points table as they have nine points under their kitty after playing in two games. In contrast, India B is lying in the second position with seven points.
