Duleep Trophy 2024: Tilak Varma bounced back to form after a disastrous start during the first innings by scoring a brilliant hundred during the second innings for India A on the third day of their Duleep Trophy match against India D on Saturday in Anantapur.

Tilak scored his hundred in the 94th over. He took a few runs in Saransh Jain's over as the ball went toward the third-man region and he thus scored his century. The youngster was quite relieved while his teammates celebrated this achievement in the dressing room and that's when Avesh Khan was spotted doing Tilak's 'Samaira celebration'.

During tea on the third day, India A had scored 370/3 in 96 overs, on the back of brilliant knocks from Tilak Varma (104) and Shaswat Rawat (61) and were leading by 477 runs.

Centuries from Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma helped India A gain a substantial lead

During the first innings, the India A batters were leading by 107 runs and they continued their assault during the second innings as well. Skipper Mayank Agarwal and Pratham Singh gave the team a flying start by stitching a brilliant partnership of 115 runs for the first wicket off 169 balls but then Shreyas Iyer got Mayank Agarwal out for 56 runs.

Pratham Singh along with Tilak Varma then stitched another partnership of 100 runs and that's when the latter brought up his hundred. Pratham had scored 122 runs off 189 balls in which he had smashed 12 fours and a six.

Riyan Parag too scored a gritty knock of 20 runs off 31 balls. Tilak and Shaswat Rawat then built a partnership of 106 runs and are on the verge of taking the lead past the 500-run mark.

On the other hand, India D could just score 183 runs during the first innings, where Devdutt Padikkal was the highest run-scorer as he had scored 92 runs. Khaleel Ahmed and Aaqib Khan took three wickets apiece.
