Duleep Trophy 2024 Schedule: India's domestic cricket season for 2024-25 is all set to begin with Duleep Trophy which is scheduled to start from early September.
Having been considered as a preparatory assignment event ahead of India’s home Test series and the tour to Australia later this year, the Duleep Trophy will see a revamp in its structure and overall system.
The tournament is usually played in the zonal format, across six zones of the country.
Last season, Hanuma Vihari-led South Zone won the title, beating West Zone by 75 runs in the final in Bengaluru.
However, this time four teams, namely India A, India B, India C and India D will feature in the tournament. The teams will be selected by the senior national selection committee chaired by Ajit Agarkar.
As per reports, India's senior players like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Surykumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav have been asked to play in the upcoming Duleep Trophy tournament.
India captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli are also likely to feature in a round of the tournament.
Notably, Rohit last played in the Duleep Trophy in 2016 whereas Kohli has not featured in a domestic First-Class match since 2012.
Format
The Duleep Trophy will be played in a round-robin league-based format this year with no knockout matches scheduled. The team at the top of the standings after three rounds will be declared the winner.
Duleep Trophy 2024: Dates and Venues
The upcoming tournament will be played at the two venues within the Anantapur Cricket Ground complex in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. As per reports, one match from the first round is also slated to be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The tournament is scheduled to be played from September 5 to September 22 across three rounds.
Duleep Trophy 2024 Timings and Live Streaming
The matches of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 will start at 9:00 AM IST. The live broadcast will be available on the Sports 18 network whereas the JioCinema app and website will live stream all the matches in India.
