England vs India 3rd Test: Jasprit Bumrah came up with another heroic effort as he bagged his maiden five-wicket haul at Lord's during the third Test between India and England on Friday.

He ended up taking five wickets for 74 runs in his 27 overs, helping India bowl England out for 387 in their first innings on the second day of the match. Bumrah made his mark after returning to the side for the all-important Lord's Test, having missed the previous game due to workload management.

However, his muted reaction after claiming his fifth wicket sparked as much intrigue as his performance commanded admiration. The incredible milestone also marked Bumrah's inclusion on the famed honours board at Lord’s for the first time in his career.

While Bumrah got his fifth wicket, the wicket of Jofra Archer, there was no trademark fist pump, no broad smile, no hint of emotion. It was a notably subdued response, leading many to wonder whether he was unhappy with how England’s lower order had pushed the score close to 400, thanks to an 84-run stand between Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse.

Explaining the reason behind his muted reaction, Bumrah said: "The reality is that I was tired. There was no happiness factor. I bowled for a long time on the field, and sometimes I get tired," Bumrah said.

"I'm not 21-22 anymore, so I'll jump around. I'm usually not like that. I was happy that I contributed. Other than that, I just wanted to go back to my mark and bowl the next ball."

The star Indian pacer produced a magic early in the second day as he removed Ben Stokes (44), Joe Root (104) and Chris Woakes in quick succession. This was the 11th time he dismissed England's star batter Root in Tests. The five-for was Bumrah's second in as many Tests this series, having taken one in Leeds as well.

On the other hand, India finished the second day on 145/3 in 43 overs in their first innings with KL Rahul (53*) and Rishabh Pant (19*) at the crease. The duo has already added 38 runs for the fourth wicket, but India still trail by 242 runs. While Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) and skipper Shubman Gill (16) departed cheaply, Karun Nair (40) once again failed to convert his promising start. Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer and skipper Ben Stokes were the wicket-takers for the hosts.
