England vs India 5th Test: India had a remarkable outing with the bat in the morning session of the third day and reached 189/3 in 44 overs in their second innings at lunch during the fifth and final Test against England at the Kennington Oval on Saturday. India scored 114 runs in the first session.
India have taken an impressive lead of 166 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal (85) and skipper Shubman Gill (11) at the crease. The first session completely belonged to Akash Deep, who frustrated the English bowlers on the back of a fighting effort. He smashed his maiden Test fifty and played an outstanding knock of 66 runs, hitting 12 fours.

Resuming the action from the overnight score of 75/2, India might have asked Akash Deep for a little more resistance, but the star pacer had other plans and looked in great touch. His continuous boundaries took pressure off Jaiswal. The duo stitched a 107-run partnership for the third wicket.
Nothing seemed to be working for the hosts as Jaiswal also headed closer to his century. The much-needed breakthrough was provided by Jamie Overton as Akash Deep couldn't get control of his shot off a short-pitch delivery, and Gus Atkinson took an easy catch.

Jaiswal had hit his fifty late on the second day and helped India score some quick runs in their second innings after they bowled England out for 247 runs. On the other hand, KL Rahul (7) and Sai Sudharsan (11) departed cheaply.
The left-handed opener seems to have cemented his eyes in the middle and will be looking to convert his effort into a big one, having been dropped by the English fielders a few times.
