Most Runs For India In Test Series: Shubman Gill ended a memorable tour to England with the bat as he was dismissed cheaply in the second innings of the fifth and final Test at the Oval on Saturday.

Gill ended the five-match Test series against England with 754 runs to his name in 10 innings at an average of 75.40 and a strike rate of 65.56. Gill, who was captaining India in his first assignment as the Test skipper, smashed multiple records throughout the series. He ended the tour as the top run-getter in the series. His effort of 754 runs is also the second-highest scored by a captain in a Test series. Gill’s effort ranks second only to the 810 runs scored by Don Bradman in the 1936-37 Ashes.

On the third day of the Oval Test, the right-handed star batter also smashed English batting great Graham Gooch’s record of scoring the most runs in a Test series played between India and England. Gooch played three Tests against India in England in 1990 and scored a total of 752 runs.

Earlier in the series, Gill also broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record of scoring the most runs in a Test series for India as captain in the first innings. Gavaskar played six matches as captain in the 1978-79 India-West Indies Test series
