England vs Pakistan, World Cup 2023: Joe Root reached a massive milestone during England's match against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.
Root became the first England batter to complete 1000 runs in the ICC Cricket World Cups as he played a promising knock of 60 runs in his team's last league match of the tournament.
While England have had a horrible tournament, having already been eliminated, Root has been one of the key players for them with the bat.

He headed in the match requiring 26 runs to get the mark and achieved it during a remarkable 132-run partnership with Ben Stokes for the third wicket.
Root is playing his third ODI World Cup, having already been part of the 2015 and 2019 editions. He got past 1000 runs in the marquee tournament in just 26 games at a sensational average of 44-plus.
The tally includes three tons and six fifties including a fifty he scored against Pakistan today with 121 being his best score.
Graham Gooch (897) is the only other England batter with 750-plus WC runs. Root (three) also has the most centuries for England at the World Cups.

Root after smashing another ODI fifty joined Gooch in the list of England batters with the most 50-plus scores in World Cups.

Root reaches 6500 ODI runs
Root achieved another milestone as he went past 6500 ODI runs after he scored his 38th run in the match against Pakistan.

The star batter is now only the second batter for England to score 6500 or more ODI runs. He joined former captain Eoin Morgan in this elite club for the Englishmen. Morgan scored 6,957 ODI runs for England at 39.75.
Root has also gone past 1,200 ODI runs in Asia. In ODIs versus Pakistan, Root has surpassed 800 runs.
