Sophie Ecclestone is set to make her return to the England squad, featuring in both the Test and T20I formats for the upcoming tour of India. Ecclestone, considered England's premier white-ball spinner, had undergone shoulder surgery in September following an injury sustained during the Women's Hundred in August. She will continue her rehabilitation before the tour of India, which commences with the T20Is on December 6. The one-off Test is scheduled for December 14.

In addition to Ecclestone, wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath has been selected for both squads. Heath earned her ODI cap against Sri Lanka in September. Furthermore, allrounder Alice Capsey is in line to make her Test debut after being included in the 15-member squad.

"We have a nice blend of youth and experience. It's an exciting squad and a group that is ready to take on the challenge of what will be a really tough series in India," England head coach Jon Lewis said.

This will be England's first tour of India since 2019. "We haven't toured India for a number of years. We have players who have experienced playing in the Women's Premier League but many haven't played international cricket there before. Playing in Indian conditions is great preparation for our next two World Cups in the subcontinent and will be an amazing learning opportunity for both the players and the staff."

The four T20Is will be played at the Wankhede stadium and the Test at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
