England vs India 4th Test: England have announced their playing XI for the fourth Test against India, which is scheduled to be played at the iconic Old Trafford in Manchester and will start on July 23.

England are 2-1 ahead in the five-match Test series, having registered a famous win by 22 runs in the thrilling third match at Lord's. As England aim to extend their lead and seal the series, they have made just one change in the lineup, which was a forced one, as Liam Dawson replaced injured Shoaib Bashir in the playing XI.

ENG vs IND 4th Test: The 35-year-old spinner is all set to make his fourth Test appearance as he made it to England's playing XI after Shoaib Bashir was ruled out of the remaining two games following a finger injury which he sustained during the Lord's Test.

While Bashir was ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing series due to a finger injury, Dawson has made his return to the Test team after a long while and is all set to make his first appearance after 8 years. He has played just three Tests for England and has taken 7 wickets at an average of 42.57

There were speculations around regarding the possible change in the combinations for the Manchester Test, but England decided to retain the rest of the lineup. Star pacer Jofra Archer made a memorable return to Test cricket during the match at Lord's, and he expressed his wish to play the remaining two games as well after the match. He will continue to lead England's bowling attack alongside Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse and skipper Ben Stokes. Notably, Archer took five wickets in his first appearance of the five-match series.

The 35-year-old Dawson has earned a call to the T20I side and took 4 for 20 against West Indies in his comeback match, captained by England's recently appointed limited-overs captain Harry Brook.

"He's a wily, old fox," Brook said at Emirates Old Trafford on Monday. "He's very experienced and a very skilful cricketer. He's played everywhere, played against everyone, so hopefully he can have an amazing performance this week.

"As we've seen over the Test series, the footholes have been for the left-handed batters outside off, so hopefully he can land it in the footholes and create a bit of spice and some opportunities to take wickets.

"He's willing to always fight for the team, he's very competitive, and it's good to have him here."
