England vs India 4th Test: England reached 77/0 in 14 overs in their first innings during the fourth Test against India at Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday.
Zak Crawley (33*) and Ben Duckett (43*) provided a remarkable start to the visitors, and they still trail by 281 runs. They took on Indian bowlers and hit them for boundaries for fun. Crawley smashed five fours whereas Duckett got seven. The Indian bowlers struggled to find better lines and gave the English openers a free hand while bowling too straight and on the leg side as well.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled five overs and was hit for 22 runs, whereas debutant Anshul Kamboj, who got the new ball from the other end ahead of Mohammed Siraj, is yet to create any impact. He gave away 29 runs in his first five overs. Siraj came on as a first change but couldn't make any difference and bowled four overs for 26 runs.
Brave Effort From Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant continued his impressive form despite carrying a seriously injured foot. Having been retired hurt overnight, Pant resumed his innings as he arrived in the middle despite a massive struggle with his right foot. He received a massive round of applause and got a standing ovation at Old Trafford.
Pant, who retired hurt on 37 overnight, could barely walk for singles, but the fighter in him kept him going nonchalantly. He completed a half-century which, when he would look back after 25 years from now, would feel as impactful as any of his eight Test hundreds. India were bowled out for 358 runs in their first innings in 114.1 overs after being put into bat first.
