ENG vs NZ: The Harry Brook-led side clinched the three-match T20I series against New Zealand after incessant rain at the Eden Park washed out the contest on Thursday. England were already leading 1-0 in the series before this match. Notably, the announcement of abandoning the game came after 3.4 overs of New Zealand's innings.
Interestingly, the first match at Hagley Oval in Christchurch was abandoned due to rain. However, the Harry Brook-led side won the second match at the same venue by 65 runs.
The ground staff at Auckland did their best to get the game started after the first rain delay, with the match being reduced to 14 overs per side.
A final effort was made to restart the match at 10 pm local time with eight overs per side. But just as the players were about to take the field, a final heavy shower ended the match.

Questions will now be asked about the decision to play a T20 series against Australia and England in October, during New Zealand's Spring. Of the six scheduled matches, only two were completed.
Harry Brook was adjudged 'player of the series' for his exploits.
"Very frustrating. The weather hasn't been ideal but good to get a little bit of game time out there," said England captain Harry Brook, who was also named the player of the series after scoring 98 runs.
"It's a great place to tour, we've had a great time so far and we're looking forward to the ODI series. We've had an amazing time.
"There will be a few changes in the side (for the ODI series), a few big names come back and hopefully we can keep that momentum going forward."
The three-match ODI series begins on Sunday.

"This time of the year, it's always a potential but some good things to come out of the series, it's always nice to play England," New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner said.
"The way we bowled in the first game. The second game was good, we were put under a lot of pressure on a good wicket and you take learnings from that.
"We're trying to fine tune what we've got before the T20 World Cup (next year)."
