ENG vs ZIM Test Schedule: England are on the verge of breaking their 22-year-long hiatus of playing a bilateral series against Zimbabwe by playing a historic Test match against them. They haven't played any bilateral series against Zimbabwe since 2003 due to off-field reasons, and now they are finally restarting their ties by playing a four-day Test match against them, which will be held at the Trent Bridge cricket stadium in Nottingham.

The idea of hosting this historic Test match was discussed by the ECB after the reign of Robert Mugambe ended in Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Cricket [ZC] underwent some administrative changes. The English County clubs came up with the decision of restarting bilateral ties with Zimbabwe in the last few years, and that's when the cricket boards of both countries discussed and came up with the idea of holding a one-off Test match.

Tagenva Mukukhlani, who is the chairperson of Zimbabwe cricket, reckoned that Zimbabwe's coming to England for the first time is quite historic.

The upcoming one-off Test match will give Zimbabwe a chance of showing to show the world their busy calendar year as far as the longest format is concerned. They created a huge upset by defeating Bangladesh in Sylhet last month, and thus the series ended in a 1-1 tie. They did lose the warm-up match, but they wou;d be entering the series riding high on confidence since they have defeated Bangladesh, and they might also be able to do the same against England.

As far as the Ben Stokes-led side is concerned, the upcoming one-off Test match against Zimbabwe will help them for the five-match Test series against India, which will be held next month.

The hosts will aim to bounce back after losing to Pakistan by 2-1 and then defeating New Zealand by 2-1 during their last two Test series and will aim to maintain their dominance at their backyard. Before the one-off Test match against Zimbabwe, they received a huge blow as youngster Jordan Cox got injured. The selectors roped in James Rewin as his replacement.
