Australia's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has reckoned that Indian spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja can turn the result of matches in their favor in the upcoming five-match Test series. It should be noted here that India will lock horns with Australia for a five-match Test series since 1991-92 and will be held later this year.

Since the last few years, both Ashwin and Jadeja have helped India become a dominant force in the longest format on the back of their brilliant all-round performance. During an interaction on Star Sports, Maxwell heaped praises on their bowling performances and the important roles they have played in the team's success.

"I think that over a long period, having played against guys like Ashwin and Jadeja, those two seem to have always been the ones we've faced consistently, and the battles we've had with them have often dictated the outcome of the game," Maxwell was quoted as saying to Star Sports.

At the same time, Ashwin and Jadeja are in sublime form as they played a key role in helping the team thrash Bangladesh in the series opener at Chepauk. Ashwin smashed a match-winning knock of 113 runs and also took a five-for whereas Jadeja scored a gritty knock of 86 runs and took five wickets across both innings.

Realizing the impact they have created on the team, Maxwell emphasized the importance of scoring lots of runs against them.

“If we play well against those two (Ashwin, Jadeja), we'll generally find ourselves in a better position compared to when they've had a field day and run through us. Those two guys have been there for most of my career, being of a similar age,” he revealed.

Faced Bumrah every day in MI nets: Maxwell

Maxwell also lauded pacer Jasprit Bumrah's incredible journey and reminisced the first impression he had of the pacer at the MI nets during IPL 2013.

“And probably, more recently, Jasprit Bumrah. I was there in his first year of the IPL in 2013 at Mumbai and pretty much faced him every day in the nets. To see him evolve from a young, untapped talent to what he is now—the probably best bowler across all three formats—is a pretty amazing story,” he concluded.

Bumrah recently came back to the national side after his long break from India's successful 2024 T20 World Cup campaign and took five wickets in his comeback match. He is expected to play a huge role in Australia after creating havoc in the last two series.
