Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians Eliminator, IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans' campaign in the ongoing IPL 2025 came to an end with a defeat against the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator by 20 runs in Mullanpur on Friday.

The defeat triggered emotional responses from the family members of the players in the stands, including head coach Ashish Nehra's son and captain Shubman Gill's sister Shahneel, who were seen crying after the match.

This was GT's third consecutive defeat this season, having lost their last two league matches against the Lucknow Super Giants and the Chennai Super Kings. A little dip in the form made them play the Eliminator as they couldn't finish at the top despite being there for a fair amount of the season.

Following the end of the match, head coach Ashish Nehra's son was seen crying in the stands. Even Shubman Gill's sister could not control her tears as she was consoled by the people sitting beside her in the stands. The photos and visuals of the disappointing scenes have gone viral on social media.

After opting to bat first, MI posted a mammoth total of 228/5 in their 20 overs on the back of Rohit Sharma's 81-run knock in 50 balls. He smashed nine fours and four sixes, whereas Jonny Bairstow scored 47 runs in just 22 deliveries on his debut for the franchise.

Despite Sai Sudharsan's memorable effort of 80 runs with the help of 10 fours and a six, GT couldn't chase down the target and were restricted to 208/6 in their 20 overs. Washington Sundar played an impactful hand of 48 runs in just 24 deliveries, hitting five fours and three sixes.

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill pinpointed the three dropped opportunities that cost them their chance of restraining Mumbai Indians on 210, which would have been a par score.

"Brilliant game of cricket, we were right in it. The last three-four overs didn't go our way, but still a good game. Definitely not easy when we drop 3 sitters. It wasn't easy for the bowlers to control, and it doesn't help when you drop 3 catches," GT skipper Shubman Gill said at the post-match presentation.
