New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, turned 39 on Tuesday (July 7). Dhoni, known for his helicopter shot and extremely calm approach to the game, has played 538 international matches and is one of the most successful captain of the Indian cricket team. His calmness and the way he approaches the games is famous among the fans and the former Indian skipper enjoys a considerable popularity. As the veteran Indian wicket-keeper turned 39 on Tuesday, fans and his admirers have showered him with birthday wishes and with some so many heartwarming gestures of celebration on the social media. The fans from across India and beyond took to social media and started sharing the pictures and videos filled with Dhoni redefining the way Cricket is played in and out of the country.

’Thalaiva’

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in Ranchi on July 7th 1981. He made his international debut against Bangladesh in 2004, and went on to become one of India’s most successful Cricket captains of all time. Mahi, as fans love to regard him as, captained India to a victory in the inaugural edition of T-20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007. In 2011, Mahi led India to country’s second only ODI World Cup title in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium. Dhoni is confirmed to lead Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League.
