What started as an episode of accusations between two Bangladesh women Cricketers has spiralled into another controversy involving India's World Cup-winning captain, Harmanpreet Kaur. The current captain of Bangladesh, Nigar Sultana Joty, while responding to accusations from former teammate Jahanara Alam, took an unnecessary dig at Harmanpreet, referencing her reaction during India's tour of Bangladesh in 2023.
Harmanpreet, during the 2023 tour, expressed her despair towards umpires by striking her bat on the stumps after she presumed that she was given out wrongly. After her reaction mid-pitch, Harmanpreet also questioned the umpire, calling it “pathetic".

Joty Beats Up Juniors: Alam
Earlier this month, Bangladesh pacer Jahanara Alam kicked up a storm by claiming that Joty beats up players who are junior than her.
“Joty beats up the juniors a lot," Alam remarked.
Joty, in an interaction, told Daily Cricket, “Why would I hit anyone? I mean, why would I strike the stumps with my bat? Am I Harmanpreet, that I would go around hitting the stumps like that? Why would I do it? If I personally don’t score runs, I may hit with the stumps, bat or helmet. Why would I vent it out on anyone else?"
In addition to accusing Joty of physical assault, Jahanara also stated that Joty contributed to the ousting of senior players from the team, behaving in a dictatorial manner.
Joty has responded to the accusations.

“Definitely, I am not a dictator in the national dressing room," Joty told daily-sun. “Look, every player has a place or position in the dressing room or in a team. I have the same. As a captain I may get respect in a different way. But the other things – what players receive or what benefits they get – are the same for me. I don’t know who or why people are saying these things. Now it has become visible who is saying those. And I don’t know why they are saying it. Since I have been doing captaincy for a long time, expecting that everyone will like me cannot be the case and I do not expect that everyone will like me or love me."
