IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals are not having the best of times at the ongoing IPL 2025 as a sixth defeat hurt their chances of making it to the playoffs. Rajasthan suffered a 2-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants at home on Saturday.
Rajasthan have had a horrible outing with the bat in their last two games and bottled their run chase despite coming very close to the target. They couldn't score 9 runs in the last over against Delhi Capitals while chasing the 189-run target before losing the match in the Super Over.
On Saturday as well, RR needed 9 runs in the last over with six wickets in hand, but the hosts couldn't get over the line. While chasing the 181-run target, RR looked in control towards the end of their innings, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal's 74-run knock, whereas debutant Vaibhav Suryavanshi (34) and skipper Riyan Parag (39) made crucial contributions.
RR managed to score six runs in the final over off Avesh Khan. They are currently struggling in the eighth position with just two wins and four points under their belt. Their only wins came against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati and Punjab Kings in Mullanpur.
With the IPL 2025 entering the second half of the season, let's take a look at how the Rajasthan Royals can turn things around and qualify for the playoffs.
Can Rajasthan Royals qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs?
Royals will first have to ensure that they win all of their remaining six matches in the IPL 2025. If they lose any match now, they will not be able to secure a place in the top four.
Six wins in the remaining six matches will also not guarantee RR a place in the playoffs because Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and LSG have already secured 10 points and have at least six matches more to play, but they will remain in contention.
For RR to qualify for the playoffs with 14 points, they have to make sure that not more than three teams finish with more than 14 points and their net run rate at the end of league stage matches remains better than the others.
