T20 World Cup 2024: The debates surrounding the selection of the Indian team for the 2024 T20 World Cup came to an end on Tuesday after the BCCI officially announced the 15-member squad. Ajit Agarkar and Co. announced the squad, which includes four batters, 2 wicketkeepers, 4 all-rounders, 2 wrist spinners and 3 pacers. Cricket experts have called the squad a balanced team because of the variety of players.

Five players have played an IPL match each after the squad was announced. However, none of the five performed well in their respective matches. On Tuesday, LSG locked horns with MI in Lucknow, and all the MI players, who have been part of the India T20 World Cup squad, could only score 14 runs in all. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored four runs off five balls whereas vice-captain Hardik Pandya was dismissed for a duck. Suryakumar Yadav could just score six runs off 10 balls.

On Wednesday, CSK played against Punjab Kings where Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube, selected in the T20 WC Squad, failed to live up to their expectations. Jadeja scored 2 runs off 4 balls while Dube was dismissed for a 2-ball duck.

How Indian batters fared in IPL after T20 World Cup squad announcement:

Rohit Sharma – 4 (5)
Suryakumar Yadav – 10 (6)
Hardik Pandya – 0 (1)
Shivam Dube – 0 (2)
Ravindra Jadeja – 2 (4)

After Dube’s early dismissal, the whole social media went into a frenzy and began trolling the all-rounder for his performance against Punjab. Five players have already faced the wrath of the fans while 6 are still yet to play an IPL match after being included in the squad.
