IND vs ENG 5th Test: India's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is all set to give the upcoming fifth Test match a miss against England as he has been told to rest by the BCCI's medical team. As per an ESPNCricinfo report, Akash Deep would be replacing Bumrah in India's playing XI post missing the last Test match in Manchester owing to a groin injury.

This development has come after India's head coach Gautam Gambhir revealed after the fourth Test match that all the pacers, including Bumrah, are fully fit for the fifth Test match. But according to the report, the medical team has urged Bumrah that this decision is taken keeping his workload in mind so that he doesn't injure his back again and that his body is protected.

Bumrah, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and skipper Shubman Gill had already said ahead of this series that the star fast bowler would be playing in just three Test matches. His workload management became a priority as he stayed out of action for three months owing to a stress injury in his back, which he had sustained during the fifth Test match against Australia this year.

He played the series opener in Leeds and then missed the second match in Birmingham, and then played at Lord's and at Old Trafford. During the fourth Test match, the Shubman Gill-led side had bowled just once and was thus seen struggling as he could take just two wickets after bowling in 33 overs and had conceded 112 runs. His speed was also low, and he was also seen limping sometimes, and that's why the board's medical staff made this decision.

Akash Deep to shoulder huge responsibility in Bumrah’s absence

It isn't the first time that Akash Deep has been asked to fill Bumrah's shoes. During the second Test match in Birmingham, he did the same brilliantly by taking a 10-fer as an Indian fast bowler.

He also received help from Mohammed Siraj. It would be interesting to see what the team management will do with Mohammed Siraj, as he is the only fast bowler to have played in all four matches till now and was also seen struggling with cramps at Old Trafford.

Arsheep Singh might make his debut if Siraj isn't included in India's playing XI, but it would be considered a big risk for the Men in Blue as the hosts are still leading the series by 2-1. Anshul Kamboj, who made his debut in Manchester, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav might also be included.
