Asia Cup 2025: India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant sustained a foot injury on the first day of the fourth Test match against England in Manchester last month. Owing to the injury that he had sustained as he tried to play a reverse sweep in Chris Woakes over, he couldn't keep the wickets during the match and was also ruled out from the fifth and the last match, which was held at the Oval.

According to some reports, Pant is expected to stay out of competitive cricket for atleast sic weeks but as per a Times of India report, the youngster, who last featured in a T20I match was against Sri Lanka last year, would be giving the upcoming Asia Cip 2025 a miss and might also be doubtful for the two-match Test series against West Indies.

The Asia Cup 2025 would be held between September 9 and 28 in the UAE, and the two-match Test series against the West Indies would be held in October in Delhi and Ahmedabad.

“Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant won’t require surgery after a toe fracture during the fourth Test in Manchester. However, Pant has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks. He will miss the Asia Cup and possibly the West Indies series," the TOI report said.

The Men in Blue won't miss his services during the Asia Cup 2025 since he isn't the team's preferred wicket-keeper choice in shorter formats, but his absence would be considered a huge blow during the two-match Test series against the West Indies.

Pant had played in four matches during the Test series against England, where he had smashed two hundreds and three half-centuries and had scored 479 runs.

Dhruv Jurel replaced him in India's playing XI for the fifth Test match, which was held at the Oval, and if Pant is ruled out of the Test series against the West Indies, then Jurel would replace him as the wicket-keeper batter.
