Angkrish Raghuvanshi gave Kolkata Knight Riders a major injury scare during their must-win IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The incident happened in the 11th over of MI’s innings when Raghuvanshi collided with spinner Varun Chakaravarthy while trying to take the catch of Tilak Varma.
Although Varun managed to get his hands on the ball, he could not complete the catch after the collision and looked visibly frustrated. Raghuvanshi, however, continued on the field for some time after the incident.

But during the 14th over, the young wicketkeeper-batter walked off the field to receive medical treatment. Tejasvi Singh then took over wicketkeeping duties for the rest of Mumbai Indians’ innings.

The situation later created confusion when broadcasters and KKR initially announced that Raghuvanshi had suffered a concussion and had been replaced by Ramandeep Singh as a concussion substitute.

The move quickly sparked discussion because concussion rules usually require teams to bring in a like-for-like replacement so that no side gains an unfair advantage.
ICC's rule on the player concussion
Last year, the International Cricket Council stated that any player diagnosed with a concussion during a match must follow a minimum seven-day stand-down period before returning to play. The ICC said the rule was introduced to protect players’ safety and well-being.
KKR will face DC on May 24
KKR are set to play Delhi Capitals in their final league-stage match on May 24, just three days after their win over Mumbai Indians.
However, since the IPL does not currently have a specific rule about a mandatory stand-down period, Raghuvanshi could still be available for the important clash.
The young batter has been one of KKR’s best performers this season, scoring 422 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 146.52.
