India vs England Semifinal, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Sanju Samson was once again India's standout performer with the bat in the semifinal against England in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. Samson headed into the match with high confidence, having played a match-winning knock in India's last Super 8 match against the West Indies in Kolkata.

While India lost an early wicket, Samson recovered things with his attacking intent right from the start. England's captain Harry Brook dropped an easy catch in just the third over of the match to give Samson an early life off Jofra Archer. The star batter made the most of it and produced an outstanding effort as India were off to a fiery start. He brought up his fifty in just 26 balls, continuing from where he left off in the last game.

Samson smashed the England bowlers all around the park for fun and went on to play a memorable knock of 89 runs in just 42 balls on the back of eight fours and seven sixes. He stitched a magnificent partnership of 97 runs with Ishan Kishan for the second wicket. However, he missed out on his century and was dismissed by Will Jacks while looking for another big shot as Phil Salt made no mistake with the catch.

Apart from Samson, Shivam Dube produced an impactful effort of 43 runs in 25 balls with the help of one four and four sixes. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan (39), Hardik Pandya (27) and Tilak Varma (21) came up with fiery cameos.

For England, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid took a couple of wickets each, whereas Jofra Archer managed to take a wicket despite being heavily expensive. India headed into the match on the back of a thrilling five-wicket win over the West Indies in their last Super 8 match. Talking about England, they peaked at the right time after a challenging group stage, winning all of their Super 8 matches.
