ICC T20 World Cup 2026: ICC announced the team of the T20 World Cup 2026 after India lifted the title with a dominating 96-run victory in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8. India created history as they became the first team to win back-to-back T20 WC titles.

While India were dominant at the home World Cup, there were several performers who lit up the stage through the month-long tournament. A total of four Indian players were included in the ICC team of the tournament, including their senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah. He produced a magnificent effort in the final as well, taking four wickets for 15 runs in his four overs.

The team of the tournament was picked by a selection panel comprising West Indies great Ian Bishop, former England captain Eion Morgan, coach-turned-commentator Natalie Germanos, ICC representative Gaurav Saxena and senior Sri Lankan sports journalist Rex Clementine.

Sahibzada Farhan (Pakistan)

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan was in remarkable form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He was the most consistent player for his team and finished the tournament as the leading run-getter despite Pakistan's early elimination from the competition. He scored 383 runs in 6 matches at an average of 76.60.

The 29-year-old opener also became the first batter to score two hundreds in a single edition of a T20 World Cup


Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper, India)

Sanju Samson was key to India’s emphatic finish at the World Cup and was named the Player of the Tournament. Despite entering the tournament under immense pressure due to his disappointing form, Samson kept calm and found touch at the right time.

He became the third batter to score half-centuries in both the final and semi-final, scoring a total of 321 runs in 5 matches at an average of 80.25.


Ishan Kishan (India)

Ishan Kishan made an impact on the back of his aggressive approach at the top of the order. He scored 317 runs in 9 matches at an average of 35.22.


Aiden Markram (captain, South Africa)

Aiden Markram marshalled his troops well as South Africa won their first seven matches of the tournament. He also made an impact with the bat, scoring 286 runs in 8 matches. He was named the captain of the team of the tournament.


Hardik Pandya (India)

Hardik Pandya has been pivotal to this team’s continued success, thanks to his ability to turn the match around with the bat or ball. He scored 217 runs on the back of a couple of half-centuries and took nine wickets.

 

Will Jacks (England)

It was a memorable campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 for England's Will Jacks, who emerged as one of the best all-rounders at the T20 World Cup. Jacks won four Player of the Match awards, drawing level with Shane Watson for most POTM honours at a T20 World Cup.

He scored 226 runs in eight matches, also creating a crucial impact with nine wickets.


Jason Holder (West Indies)

Jason Holder was one of the stars of the tournament. He produced remarkable efforts with both bat and ball in several games for the West Indies. In the all-important Super Eight clash against India, Holder claimed 2/38 and scored a crucial 37 not out in 22 balls, though it came in a losing effort against the co-hosts. He finished the tournament with 141 runs and 10 wickets under his belt.


Jasprit Bumrah (India)

Jasprit Bumrah has been a consistent performer for India over the past few years. He remained an outstanding match-winner for the Men in Blue in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 as well, taking 14 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 6.21.

His best was saved for the last, as the pacer claimed 4/15 against New Zealand in the final to earn the Player of the Match award.


Lungi Ngidi (South Africa)

Ngidi was impressive during the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, taking 12 wickets in 7 matches at an economy rate of 7.19. He started the tournament with 4/31 against Canada and claimed two more three-wicket hauls.


Adil Rashid (England)

Adil Rashid continues to be a consistent performer for England in the T20I format. He took 13 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in eight matches. In the semifinal against India, Rashid was more in damage-control mode and claimed the wickets of Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav to finish at 2/41.


Blessing Muzarabani (Zimbabwe)

Blessing Muzarabani played a major role in Zimbabwe’s dream run at the tournament. Zimbabwe announced their arrival with a 23-run win over Australia. In that match, Muzarabani claimed 4/17 as Australia were dismissed for 146 while chasing Zimbabwe’s 169/2.

He finished the tournament with 13 wickets in 6 matches at an economy of 7.88.


Shadley Van Schalkwyk (12th man, USA)

Shadley Van Schalkwyk, the star USA pacer, was the best bowler in the group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He began with a four-wicket haul against India and Pakistan, respectively. He took 13 wickets in 4 matches at an economy rate of 6.80.
