ICC Test Rankings: India's Test skipper Shubman Gill has entered the top 10 of ICC's latest men's Test rankings on the back of his brilliant batting prowess during the second Test match of the ongoing series against England. Gill climbed 15 spots and finished in sixth position, thus achieving his career-best ranking in the longest format.

At the same time, England's star batter Harry Brook has jumped to the top position and has surpassed ex-England skipper Joe Root to become the World No.1 batter.

Gill scripted history in Edgbaston as he had become the first-ever batter to have smashed a double ton and scored 150 runs during the same match. He had scored a match-winning knock of 269 runs during the first innings and then scored 161 runs during the second. The visitors scored more than 1000 runs during the game and thus defeated the hosts by a huge margin of 366 runs and leveled the ongoing five-match series by 1-1.

Gill's previous best Test ranking was 14 but he has now climbed to the sixth position with 807 rating points and that's a huge jump from his 106 points as compared to his previous best.

Ever since he became India's Test skipper before the ongoing series, he has been in sublime form as he led the team from the front and proved his naysayers wrong.

He has scored 585 runs after playing in two Test matches, which includes two centuries and a double ton ever since he landed in England. The youngster led the team from the front during both matches.

3 INDIANS IN TOP 10

At the same time, Yashasvi Jaiswal was able to retain his No.4 position according to the latest rankings. He too scored a match-winning knock of 87 runs during the first innings of the second Test besides scoring a century during the first match.

Star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has slipped to the seventh position even though he has performed consistently during the ongoing series. He had smashed a hundred during both innings of the series opener and then had scored a match-winning knock of 65 runs during the second Test. He has scored 342 runs during the ongoing series till now.

England's star wicket-keeper batter Jamie Smith has jumped to 16 positions and has finished at the tenth position as per the latest rankings after scoring an unbeaten knock of 184 runs and 88 runs during both the innings of the second Test whereas South Africa's Wiaan Mulder has jumped to 34 positions and have finished at the 22nd position as per the latest rankings after scoring an unbeaten knock of 367 runs against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

As per the latest Test bowling rankings, Jasprit Bumrah has retained his No.1 position even though he didn't play in the second Test match. At the same time, Mohammed Siraj has jumped to the six spots and has finished in the 22nd position after taking a six-for against England during the second Test match.
