ICC Women's ODI Rankings: The Women in Blue are inching closer towards the No.2 position as per the latest ICC ODI rankings. They achieved this milestone after their sublime form in WODIs and have also scored eight rating points. They are currently lying in third position after scoring 127 rating points and are just six points behind England, who are lying in second position with 127 rating points.
These latest rankings have 50 percent weightage for games played between May 2022 to April 2024 and 100 percent after that. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side had won the women's tri-nation series, which was held in Sri Lanka, where they had lost just one match of the five that they had played. They defeated Sri Lanka during the summit clash, which was held in Colombo.
The Women in Blue have been in sublime form in this format since June last year, as they have defeated teams like South Africa (3-0), New Zealand (2-1), West Indies (3-0), and Ireland (3-0). But they still haven't been able to defeat Australia during this time, who are currently the table toppers after scoring 167 rating points.
Besides India, New Zealand and South Africa slipped due to their rating points but are currently lying in the fourth and fifth positions. New Zealand has lost four rating points, whereas South Africa has lost nine.
West Indies too lost 10 rating points and are also behind Bangladesh and Pakistan, and are lying in the ninth position. Around 15 teams are being considered for the women's ODI rankings, and the USA isn't part of it as they have lost their ODI status. UAE has replaced them, and they will be entering the ODI rankings after playing in 8 ODIs.
