ODI World Cup 2023: England have named right-arm fast bowler Byrdon Carse in their squad as a replacement for injured Reece Topley in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
As confirmed by their coach Matthew Mott, Jofra Archer was not drafted into the squad despite the premium pacer's availability as a traveling reserve.
The defending champions suffered a massive blow in their last match against South Africa when Reece Topley picked up an injury, fracturing his finger with the team also losing the match by 229 runs.

Topley cooperated with pain and went on to bowl 8.5 overs on Saturday but scans revealed a fracture later in the day. He has been a bit injury-prone lately as it was very unfortunate for him to get ruled out of the tournament that way.
He took the blow while trying to stop a fiercely hit straight drive from Rassie van der Dussen.
England have had a horrible campaign so far in the tournament and managed just one win in the four matches to remain in the ninth position in the points table.
They kicked off the tournament with a massive defeat against New Zealand followed by a win over Bangladesh.
However, the last two matches have been disappointing for them, losing first against the lower-ranked Afghanistan and then losing against the Proteas to leave their future in the tournament in jeopardy.
They will be up against Sri Lanka in their next match Bengaluru on Thursday before taking on India in Lucknow on Sunday.
Talking about the new replacement, Carse has played 12 ODIs for England. The 28-year-old pacer, who made his ODI debut in 2021, has 14 wickets. He played an ODI in the 4-match series against New Zealand in September and played 2 ODIs against Ireland where England fielded a second-string team.

Notably, Reece Topley left for home on Monday and the ECB said the England and County side, Surrey's medical teams will take care of the pacer's rehabilitation.
England's updated squad: Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (c & wk), David Willey, Adil Rashid, Gus Atkinson, Mark Wood, Brydon Carse
