Cricket's biggest carnival is set to begin on October 5 as India will be hosting the ODI World Cup solely for the first time, having co-hosted it back in 2011.

The tournament will run till November 19 and the matches will be played across ten cities of Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Dharamsala, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata with the final to be played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

The Indian team will be kicking off their campaign on October 8 when they will take on Australia in Chennai. Their much-anticipated clash against the arch-rivals Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad on October 14.

Much like other games, India's match against England will also be a key contest to watch out for which will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The stadium has a seating capacity of 50,000 spectators.

Pitch Info

The Ekana Cricket Stadium is one of the newly built stadiums in India. The pitch at Lucknow has been largely bowler-friendly so far. While on some occasions it has helped pace bowlers, on many occasions, it has largely and effectively assisted spinners and led to low-scoring contests. Even in the ODI matches, the score of 250 has been made only once at this venue, which is an indication of how helpful the pitch is to bowlers.

For the ODI World Cup, the surface is believed to have gone through a lot of changes. The stadium has a total of nine pitches (4 black soil pitches and 5 red soil pitches).

Key Stats: Team India has played one ODI at the Ekana Stadium in 2022, winning the match. West Indies and India have the best win-loss record at this venue. West Indies have 3 out of 3 while India have won their only ODI played here.
