IND vs AFG, U19 WC: India's 14-year-old prodigy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, displayed his fine form in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup, scoring a fine 33-ball 68 against Afghanistan on Thursday. Notably, this knock proved to be crucial for the side as it gave India a brisk start in the semifinal. Notably, Sooryavanshi smashed nine boundaries and four sixes in his knock before getting out to Afghanistan's Nooristani Omarzai.
It is worth noting that Sooryavanshi's tally of sixes reached 15 as he surpassed both Sanju Samson and Gaurav Dhiman for most sixes in the U19 World Cup by an Indian player.
Samson featured in six games for India in the 2014 T20 World Cup and smashed 12 sixes, while Dhiman reached the tally of 12 across two editions (2004 and 2006).

In addition to surpassing Samson’s record for the highest number of sixes hit by an Indian player in the U19 World Cup, Sooryavanshi also exceeded his former Rajasthan Royals captain’s record for the most sixes by an Indian player in a single edition of the U19 World Cup.
India Closing In On Win
Opening batter Aaron George and captain Ayush Mhatre scored individual fifties along with Sooryavanshi as India on the verge of clinching the semifinal. At the time of reporting, India needed 21 off 74 balls.
Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai led the way with magnificent hundreds as Afghanistan posted a challenging 310 for four against fancied India in the semifinal of the U-19 World Cup here on Wednesday.
Faisal top-scored with 110 off 93 balls, while Niazai sparkled with an unbeaten 101-run knock off 86 deliveries as the Indian bowlers struggled to pick wickets at regular intervals.
