The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is set to resume with the iconic Boxing Day Test, as India and Australia face off in the fourth match of the five-game series.
The series has been intensely competitive, with the two teams closely matched. India initially took the lead with a convincing 295-run victory in Perth, but Australia quickly countered with a dominant 10-wicket win in Adelaide.
The third Test in Brisbane was unfortunately marred by heavy rain, ultimately ending in a draw. With the series currently tied at 1-1, the Boxing Day Test is poised to be a thrilling encounter.
India happens to have a checkered history at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The national cricket team has played fourteen matches in the famed arena and won four, drawn two, and lost eight. Of these last nine matches, India has played at the MCG on Boxing Day. Hence, theoverall head-to-head record at the MCG slightly tilts in favour of the Australian hosts.

Melbourne Cricket Ground pitch report
The pitch at the Melbourne Cricket Ground has a reputation for being highly competitive, balancing the needs of bowlers and batters. Generally speaking, the bowlers benefit early in the game from what the pitch is beginning to show, a nice bounce to make an impact. But as the pitch wears, it tends increasingly to favor batters playing their shots not quite so much easier and freer.
