India vs Australia Final, World Cup 2023: Indian players reacted for the first time after defeat against Australia in the final of the World Cup 2023 on Sunday.
The Men in Blue missed out on their third World Cup title and suffered a six-wicket defeat against the Aussies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India's star spinner posted a heartfelt note where he lauded his teammate and also congratulated Australia for winning their sixth World Cup.

"However I can’t help but applaud the giants of modern-day cricket “Australia”. What they did on the field yesterday was just unbelievable. Congrats on their 6th World Cup win #ICCCricketWorldCup," he added.
Ashwin was part of the Indian squad but got to play just one match in the tournament which was against Australia in the team's first match of the campaign.
He was expected to play in the final as well as a surprising change, considering the slowness of the wicket and his record against the Aussies.
However, India opted to go for the same team with Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav playing as two spinners alongside three regular pacers.
Shubman Gill also shared a heartwarming post where he acknowledged the brilliance of this team and also thanked all the fans for their immense support.

Gill missed the first two matches due to illness but made a brilliant comeback as he finished the tournament with 354 runs to his name in nine matches at an average of 44.25 while striking at 106.94.
He also registered a failure with the bat in the final against Australia and was the first Indian wicket to fall, getting dismissed by Mitchell Starc for just four runs.
Shreyas Iyer was also left disappointed as he shared an emotional post after India's defeat in their fourth World Cup final.

"We're heartbroken, it still hasn't sunk in and it won't for a while. My first World Cup was an experience that has taught me so much and made me grateful for everything that's come my way. Thank you to the @BCCI, team management, support staff, my teammates and you the fans for backing us from the beginning right up until the end. And congratulations to the entire Australian team on a marvelous campaign," Shreyas wrote on X.
After a slow start to the campaign, Shreyas picked up the momentum brilliantly with a few impressive performances with the bat.
He scored back-to-back centuries in India's final league match against the Netherlands and in the semi-final against New Zealand.
However, he had a disappointing outing in the all-important final and was dismissed for just four runs but ended up India's third-highest run-getter behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
He scored 530 runs in 11 matches at an average of 66.25 and a strike rate of 113.25 with the help of two centuries and three half-centuries.
Mohammed Shami also didn't hold back in showing his disappointment after the loss in the World Cup final.

"You win some, you lose some. Tough pill to swallow for us but we have out heads held high," Shami wrote on Instagram.
"Proud of this team & thanks for all the love and support. Keep supporting and loving," he added.
Shami was one of the best performers for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team despite missing the first few matches.
Shami set the tournament on fire with his bowing as he finished as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets to his name in just seven matches at an average of 10.71.
The star pacer wasn't in the starting XI for the first few matches but the team was forced to include him after Hardik Pandya was ruled out due to an injury.

Shami impressed everyone and capitalised on the opportunities he got, also took three five-wicket hauls to make this tournament memorable.
Prasidh Krishna, who didn't play a single match in the tournament also shared a post on Instagram and captioned it as 'With Pride'.

Krishna joined the squad as a replacement for Hardik Pandya but didn't get to play any matches as India's combination was already set.
