Australian Men's Cricket Team vs India National Cricket Team Match:

India's Jasprit Bumrah was at his very best during the first Test against Australia at Perth in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Captaining the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Bumrah led from the front and picked up a memorable five-wicket haul at the Optus Stadium as he looked unplayable to the Aussie batters

Having dismissed the debutant Nathan McSweeney, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith and Pat Cummins on the first day, Bumrah completed his 11th Test five-for with the early wicket of Alex Carey on the second day.

Bumrah's stunning show left a few fans in disbelief who called out the pacer on social media, questioning his bowling action.

This is not the first time that there have been talks around Bumrah's bowling action. The pacer was called out in 2022 when Pakistan pacer Mohammad Hasnain was reported for illegal bowling action in BBL.

Former England international and renowned bowling coach Ian Pont then explained why Bumrah's action is deemed legal.

"You can see his arm straight from the wrist to the elbow. The rule is when it is above the vertical that the elbow must not bend past 15 degrees. You can clearly see the forward flexion in his arm, which is a hyperextension. This is allowed (a forward bend) for people with hyper-mobile joints.

"A hyperextension is a movement in a similar direction to the direction of movement – not downward or to the side. This is why Bumrah’s action is classified as legal since it is within the guidelines of hypermobility," he wrote on social media.

On the back of Bumrah's five-for and Harshit Rana's three wickets on debut, India bowled Australia out for 104 runs in their first innings.

Despite getting bowled out for 150 runs after opting to bat first, India managed to take a first-inning lead of 46 runs on the second day.

Bumrah has been in remarkable touch ever since he returned from a long injury issue last year. He picked 20 wickets in 11 matches during the ODI World Cup 2023.

The star pacer then played a big hand in India's title triumph in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, taking 15 wickets in 8 matches.
