Border Gavaskar Trophy: Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has begun preparations for the highly anticipated Test series against Australia, joining his teammates for a training session in Perth on Wednesday.

As the Indian players settle into their base in Western Australia, players have been participating in intense training sessions at the WACA stadium ahead of the series opener, scheduled from November 22. 

According to various reports, in a low-key practice session on Tuesday, India's Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal were among the few players who chose to fine-tune their batting. Notably absent from the optional training were senior players Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

After a day's absence, Kohli joined his teammates for India's training session on Wednesday. Photos and videos of the batting superstar taking part in the practice session quickly surfaced on social media, generating excitement among fans.

Indian cricket's mainstay, Kohli, is navigating a challenging phase in his career, with critics vocal about his recent slump. The former captain's struggles against spin in the IND-NZ series were particularly pronounced. Additionally, his decision to opt out of the Duleep Trophy sparked controversy, leading many to question his approach to rediscovering his batting rhythm.

According to Australian media reports, the team's practice sessions are closed to the public, and even staff members at the venue have been instructed not to record or take videos of the proceedings.

Although the state-of-the-art Optus Stadium, with its 60,000-seat capacity, is set to host the opening Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the iconic WACA Ground remains an iconic and beloved hub of Western Australian cricket.

Located on the banks of the Swan River, this historic venue continues to hold a special place in the hearts of cricket enthusiasts, even as the spotlight shines on its modern counterpart.
