India vs Bangladesh Test series: Young run-machine Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed two back-to-back half-centuries while the wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant scored the winning run for India in Kanpur after the home side played a brand of fearless cricket throughout the second Test match.

The Gautam Gambhir Test era began with a dominating 2-0 victory over Bangladesh at home as India chased down a 95-run target in 17.2 overs to secure a 7-wicket win over the visitors.

After India wrapped up a two-match series by 2-0, let's take a look at some major takeaways from the Rohit Sharma-led side's performance in the series.

India's brand of aggressive cricket and its record-breaking first-innings

After two frustrating days in Kanpur, on Day 4 India breathed fire and woke up a dead rain-marred match with the openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal unleashing a T20-style batting assault against Bangladesh bowler from the start of their innings.

India batters took the match by the scruff of its neck with their stunning batting display that saw them break many records in single innings. In their first inning on Day 4, India became the first team to record the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 team scores. The hosts rag-dolled the visitors' experienced bowling attack with opener Jasiwal ransacking 72 runs in 51 balls while Rohit Sharma played a sublime knock of 36 off 33, featuring three sixes and one four.

After the openers were dismissed Shubman Gill added 36 off 33 and Kohli played an amazing knock felling just 3 runs short of his half-century (47 off 38). KL Rahul added the final touches to India's total with his knock of 68 off 43 runs before the hosts declared their innings at 285/9 in just 34.4 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja strikes with dream ball and Ravichandran Ashwin's spin craft

Ravichandran Ashwin’s outstanding performance with both bat and ball in the two-match series won him the Player of the Series award. The all-rounder finished with a tally of 11 wickets and 114 runs from the two matches. In the second Test Ashwin, who made the first three strikes, returned with the figure of 3/50 across 15 overs.

Meanwhile, his teammate and another spin magician Ravindra Jadeja hastened Bangladesh's collapse with a sizzling three-wicket haul to put India on the brink of a series sweep.

Jasprit Bumrah's pace startled Bangladesh batters

India's pacer mainstay Jasprit Bumrah's swing and lengthy deliveries startled Bangladesh's batters and he was the pick of bowler in both innings with the figures of claiming 3/50 and 3/17. He also raced to 170 wickets with 10 fifers to his name in this format.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's two back-to-back centuries

Young run-machine Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with twin half-centuries as India hammered Bangladesh by seven wickets in the second and last Test.

After slamming 72 runs in India's first outing, Jaiswal played a spectacular knock of 51 runs to help India chase the target of 95 runs successfully. He even stitched a partnership with Virat Kohli after India lost two early wickets -- Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

Rishabh Pant's return to Test cricket

Pant made a dream comeback to Test cricket in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai with a roaring 109 runs in hosts second innings to power India to a clinical 280-run win.

The wicketkeeper-batter smashed his sixth Test century, his first since returning to competitive cricket after recovering from injuries he suffered in a horrific car accident in December 2022, on the third day of the opening Test against Bangladesh.

In the second match Pant did not get a chance to continue his fiery form as the top order made the most out of Bangladesh's miserable bowling. He finished the series with a total of 161 runs in two matches.
