IND vs BAN: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed a 16-member team for the highly-awaited upcoming Test series against the Men in Blue. Najmul Hossain Shanto would be leading the team from the front, as they would lock horns with team India in a two-match Test series, which would begin next week. It's almost the same squad, which had scripted history by defeating Pakistan for the first time in a Test series at their home ground earlier this month. Opener Mahmadul Hasan Joy made a comeback to the Test squad after giving the Pakistan series a miss. He had sustained a groin injury and it took him two weeks to recover and heal fully.

Left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam's injury woes continued and he will thus give the Test series against India a miss as he too has picked up a groin injury. He did feature in the series opener against Pakistan in Lahore and also took three wickets but was ruled out from the second match due to the injury. Khaled Ahmed, who is Bangladesh's one of the most experienced pacers also didn't play in the Pakistan series.

But then he later joined the squad as Shoriful Islam's replacement. At the same time, Jaker Ali Janik received his maiden Test call-up. The youngster is the only uncapped player in this squad, who had represented Bangladesh in 17 T20Is before this.

Can Bangladesh pose a threat to India?

The board has backed the Test team which defeated Pakistan to now lock horns with India. The Bangla Tigers scripted history by whitewashing the Test series 2-0 against Pakistan. The two losses in this series extended the Men in Green's losing streak in the longest format at home as they have now lost six matches and four ended in a tie after they defeated South Africa at Rawalpindi in 2021.

Riding high on confidence, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side would aim to repeat their heroics in the Test series against India. But they will face a daunting task against the experienced Indian Test team. The first Test match would be held at the M.A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai and would begin next week.

Bangladesh's squad:

Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Kumar Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Jaker Ali Anik.
