IND vs BAN, 3rd T20I: India's T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday scripted history as he became the second fastest Indian batter to have achieved the milestone of scoring 2500 runs in the shortest format. He achieved this milestone during his 71st innings in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
Star batter Virat Kohli is currently leading this list as he achieved this feat in 68 innings way back in December 2019 against West Indies in Hyderabad. Babar Azam is still the fastest to have achieved this milestone after playing in 62 innings. His fellow teammate Mohammed Rizwan is the second-highest scorer after playing in 65 innings. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma achieved this milestone of scoring 2500 runs after playing in 92 innings.
Fastest to 2500 runs in T20Is:
Babar Azam – 62 innings
Mohammad Rizwan – 65 innings
Virat Kohli – 68 innings
Suryakumar Yadav – 71 innings
Aaron Finch – 78 innings
Martin Guptill – 83 innings
Suryakumar Yadav takes charge in Hyderabad
He made his debut in March 2021 in the shortest format and took three years and 212 days to have achieved the milestone of scoring 2500 runs. He surpassed Babar Azam, who had achieved this feat in five years and 65 days. The T20I skipper was seen struggling in this series as he scored 29 and eight runs in the first two matches.
Suryakumar was at his absolute best at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The Men in Blue suffered an early blow as opener Abhishek Sharma fell cheaply but then he and Samson helped the team bounce back by going all-guns-blazing against the Bangladeshi bowlers. He scored his half-century off 23 balls and proved why he is considered as one of the best batters in the shortest format.
