IND vs BAN, 1st T20I: IPL's star fast bowler Mayank Yadav had a dream debut, and wrist spinner Varun Chakravarthy too performed brilliantly in his comeback T20I match and helped India defeat Bangladesh by seven wickets at the newly built Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior.

Mayank had a dream debut while Varun performed brilliantly in his comeback match and helped the team bundle the Bangla Tigers out for just 127 runs and chased the target quite comprehensively in 11.5 overs on the back of significant contributions from Suryakumar Yadav (29), Sanju Samson (29) and Hardik Pandya (39*). It was the first time in 14 years that an international match was being held in Gwalior and that the venue made its international debut.

Mayank, Arshdeep, and Varun dismiss Bangladesh

The youngster Mayank Yadav was under immense pressure (21/1) even before the toss and he did impress in his debut match. He grabbed headlines for continuously bowling at the speed of 150kmph in IPL 2024 and he repeated his heroics in his fiery spell of 2-1-3-1. There were concerns around his long-term fitness due to a side strain which he sustained but he dismissed all those claims by bowling at the speeds of 145.7 kmph and 148.7 mph in his first two overs. Bangladesh's veteran batter Mahmuduillah, who was wary of his speed, became Mayank's first victim, as he smacked a ball toward Washington Sundar, who was standing at deep point.

Varun Chakravarthy (3/31), who made a comeback to the national side after three years, gave the Bangladesh batters a hard time as they saw struggling batting against him. One of his best moments was when he dismissed Jaker Ali, with a brilliant ball, which turned back in. He did give away 15 runs in his first over but then came back by getting Towhid Hridoy out for scoring just 12 runs and that added to Bangladesh's woeful batting performance.

The visitors were reeling at 64/5 in 10 overs. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side took advantage of that situation, where Mayank bowled in the 13th and the 19th over and that's when the Bangladesh batters were able to score a few boundaries. But Mayank came on top as he bowled some brilliant yorkers.

Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh (3/14) also played an important role as he dismissed openers Litton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon during the powerplay and then he took his third wicket. Hardik Pandya along with Arshdeep opened the bowling attack for India.
