IND vs ENG 4th Test: India's star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant had sustained a finger injury on the first day of the third Test match at Lord's last week, but he still came into bat during both innings and also scored a gritty knock of 74 runs off 112 balls on Day 3. Although there is no clarity yet as to whether he would be playing during the fourth Test against England, which would be held next week at Old Trafford as a wicketkeeper, he would be playing as a batter in the match.
Pant, who has scored 425 runs under his kitty during the ongoing series, which includes two hundreds and as many fifties, is on the verge of scripting history in Manchester and getting his name etched in the record books.
If Pant, who made his debut in the longest format, does score 40 runs during the fourth Test match, then he would be the country's highest run-scorer in the WTC cycle.
Currently, Rohit Sharma is the country's highest run scorer in the WTC cycle. The ex-India skipper had featured in 40 matches, where he had smashed nine hundreds and eight half-centuries, and has overall scored 2716 runs. At the same time, Pant had smashed 2677 runs under his kitty after playing in 37 matches. He has hit six hundreds and 15 fifties.
