India vs England 5th Test: India ended the second day of the fifth Test with 473 runs on the board at the loss of eight wickets with Kuldeep Yadav (27) and Jasprit Bumrah (19) at the crease on Friday, March 8.

The duo added 45 runs to help India take their lead to 255 runs as HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala witnessed a batting collapse of the hosts with Shoaib Bashir picking up four wickets.

India resumed their first inning from 135/1 before skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started adding more to the total with some attacking play.

While Rohit smashed his 12th Test hundred, Gill too joined the party before both the batters started hitting boundaries for fun.

Gill, too brought his hundred in style as the duo added 171 runs for the second wicket.

England needed something special to get the better of a dangerous partnership and a surprising moment was provided by skipper Ben Stokes who picked up the ball after a long while.

He came up with an impact straight away and dismissed the Indian captain on his very first ball for 103, a moment that left everyone stunned including the visitors' camp.

Gill too followed Rohit as he was dismissed by a stunning delivery from James Anderson for 110 in the 63rd over.

Debutant Devdutt Padikkal then was joined by Sarfaraz Khan and both started capitalised on the foundation with an incredible partnership.

Padikkal reached his half-century on his maiden Test appearance before Sarfaraz followed him with fifty.

Just when it looked like the hosts would boss the play towards the end, spinners stepped up for the visitors with Shoaib Bashir leading the charge.

He first dismissed Sarfaraz for 56 in the 85th over before getting the better of Padikkal for 65 in the 93rd over.

Dhruv Jurel was the next to go who looked to attack but found Ben Duckett in the deep, departing for 15 before Ravindra Jadeja followed him back to the pavilion.

Hartley joined the party by dismissing Ravichandran Ashwin for 0 as his second wicket before Kuldeep and Bumrah joined each other in the middle.

Earlier in the match, India bowled England out for 218 in 57.4 overs in their first innings with the help of Kuldeep Yadav's five-wicket haul and Ashwin's four wickets.
