IND vs ENG: The Men in Blue share a long and storied rivalry with England in the longest format, which goes way back to 1932 and there's one feat that they haven't achieved yet winning a Test series in England. The last time they did so was way back in 2007, under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid.

Post that, even star players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah have struggled to win a Test series in England.

The Indian team was on the verge of winning a Test series in 2021 since they were leading by 2-1 but then COVID-19 struck the Indian camp and the fifth and the last Test match was scheduled in 2022. The match was held in Edgbaston, where the Men in Blue were seen struggling during the fourth innings and thus the series ended in a draw 2-2.

Now that the Shubman Gill-led side is preparing for the five-match Test series, which will be held under the new name of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, there would be a lot of expectations from the Men in Blue.

The Indian team has undergone a transition. Players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have retired from the longest format and the role of captaincy has been given to a young Shubman Gill. Although, he hasn't proved his worth as Test captain yet, but has been showered with huge praise for balancing intensity with poise.

India vs England: head-to-head in Test series

Total Test series played: 36

England wins: 17

India wins: 11

Drawn series: 8

India's batting lineup consists of youngsters, who don't have much experience of playing on England soil. Sai Sudharsan would be making his debut in the upcoming series whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal would be playing there for the first time along with experienced players like KL Rahul and Karun Nair-who is making a comeback to the Test side after a long time. Rishabh Pant, who too made a brilliant comeback after a fatal car accident last year, and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja would be consisting of the middle-order.

Team India's bowling lineup would be their strength this time. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, who both would be playing just three Test matches each, would be leading the pace attack from the front, which has given the English batters a hard time before as well. Ravindra Jadeja would be replacing R Ashwin as the lone spinner in the playing XI.

As far as the hosts are concerned, this is the first time that they would be facing India in the James Anderson-Broad era. Talented bowlers like Jamie Overton, Chris Woakes, and Shoaib Bashir consist of their bowling lineup but they are also prone to injuries. If they do suffer a top-order batter collapse throughout the series and their bowlers consistently struggle, then the Shubman Gill-led side might have an opportunity to win this series.

History might be against the Men in Blue but the year 2025 has turned out to be quite different. Since England too underwent a transition and the Men in Blue dared to dream, the English summer this time could script a new history after 18 years.
