India vs England 1st Test: Jasprit Bumrah faced a lack of support when it comes to bowling during the first Test between India and England in Leeds on Saturday. India had a tough outing with the ball on the second day, but Bumrah was once again the stand-out performer.

Bumrah took all three wickets before England finished the second day on 209/3 in 49 overs in their first innings. He dismissed Zak Crawley (4), Ben Duckett (62) and Joe Root (28) on Saturday.

Following the struggle of other Indian bowlers, Bumrah went off the field for a short while. While Shardul was bowling out his over, the camera turned to the Indian dressing room where Bumrah was seen having a discussion with the head coach, Gambhir. The picture of an animated chat with Gambhir went viral on social media.

A no-ball in the final over of the day denied Bumrah a fourth wicket when Harry Brook was caught for a duck. Despite dominating large parts of the game, India were frustrated by dropped catches and missed chances.

Other Indian bowlers witnessed a huge struggle in the middle, but it was Mohammed Siraj who improved a lot in his later spells after a disappointing start. He bowled 14 overs and gave away 50 runs, whereas Prasidh Krishna was hugely expensive. He was hit for 56 runs in his 10 overs. Ravindra Jadeja (0/25) and Shardul Thakur (0/23) also couldn't produce any success.

While Bumrah bowled the second-most overs for India on the second day, there have already been talks regarding the concern over his workload, considering the lack of support from the other bowlers. Notably, Bumrah will be playing just three Tests in the five-match series due to fitness concerns, which means the visitors will be looking to make the most of his presence, but they will need contributions from others as well.

Earlier, Bumrah had both Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope put down, with Pope eventually capitalising to reach an unbeaten century. Bumrah ended the day with figures of 3 for 48 in 12 overs.
