IND vs ENG 2nd Test: India's Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant is on the cusp of breaking Virat Kohli's huge record during the second Test match. Even though India lost the series opener, where Pant scored two centuries, he will still aim to repeat his heroics and help the team win the second Test match. Kohli has scored the second-highest number of centuries against England in the longest format, i.e., five. And Pant too has smashed as many against the same opponent.

If Pant scores another century at Edgbaston, then he will surpass Kohli and join Muhammed Azharruddini in the list of scoring most centuries for the Men in Blue in the longest format against England.

At the same time, besides Pant, captain Shubman Gill too i on the verge of breaking another record of Virat Kohli.

If Gill scores another century, then he will join the list of scoring the most number of centuries as an Indian captain in England, as he had already smashed two. Kohli and Azharuddin lie at the top position in this list as they have smashed two hundred against England.

At the same time, Dinesh Pardiwala, who was Pant's dictator during the time of his fatal car accident reckoned that Pant recovered brilliantly from a career-ending injury and his comeback to the Indian team was phenomenal.

Pant, who was going back to his hometown Roorkee from Delhi, way back in December 2022, had lost control of his car, which slammed directly into a divider and h thus suffered multiple injuries.

It took Pant 635 days to recover fully as he underwent rehab, lots of surgeries, and extensive physiotherapy, to make a brilliant comeback to Indian cricket and his road to recovery had become one of the most encouraging in this sport.

The orthopedic surgeon had to perform a four-hour long surgery way back in January 2023 on his right knee, where his three ligaments and tendons were repaired and restructured.

Pant was able to drink water without anyone's help eventually and he was seen walking without crutches after four months. But the surgeon was doubtful as to whether he would be able to play cricket ever again. But Pant showed resilience and had set timelines for himself to be able to play cricket again.

“When he first came in, he had a dislocated right knee. He also had an injury to his right ankle, and lots of other minor injuries all over. He had a lot of skin loss, so his entire skin from the nape of the neck down to his knees was completely scraped off in the process of that accident," Pardiwala was quoted as saying to the Telegraph.
